Steps

1

Slice the beef thin, and cut the bell pepper and onion into strips. Break the broccoli into small florets and blanch.

~7 min

2

Mix the oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar together for the sauce.

~2 min

3

Heat oil in a pan and add the minced garlic and chili to release their aroma.

~1 min

Why: Blooming the garlic and chili in the oil first spreads their aroma evenly through the whole dish.

4

Add the beef and stir-fry quickly over high heat.

~2 min

Watch out: Cooking too long over low heat releases water from the beef and toughens it — stir-fry briefly over high heat.

5

Add the onion, bell pepper, and broccoli and stir-fry together.

~3 min

6

Pour in the sauce and toss evenly, cooking 1-2 minutes more.

~2 min

7

Serve in a bowl with rice.

~1 min

Tips

  • A quick, high-heat stir-fry keeps the vegetables crisp.

  • If a child can't handle spice, stir-fry without the chili and add it separately for the adults.

  • Fish sauce adds a big burst of savory flavor even in small amounts — start light and adjust to taste.

Storage

Refrigerate 2 days. Reheat quickly over high heat so the vegetables don't turn soft.
